Cancer Epidemic? Not

The rate of cancer is down–but I thought it was up?

The Chattering class is always ready to announce another cancer crisis. Chemophobes are always pointing to cancer as the consequence of progress, a sign we need to return to the halcyon days when we drove or road horses and lived a more primitive life.
But the rate of cancers is down, to the great displeasure of the elites and government agency sponsored experts who hold the American Cancer Society’s nonsense formula that cancer cases are 1/3 food, 1/3 tobacco, 1/3 environmental.
Good scientists might note there is no accounting in the ACS theory for the major cause of cancer–aging. Can’t regulate aging, or create panics about it, can we? However the new species of policy makers and bioethicists would be happy to hurry along the demise of old duffers, since their quality of life and value has been spent. Time to go when you are old, grey or disabled. No special help for the infirm. Its survival of the fittest.

  1. Of course; if we live long enough, we will all get cancer. Carried to the extreme; if we live long enough, we will fall of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.
