My understanding of mass extinction events is that they are still pretty much a mystery. The ones that they have any confidence in explaining are generally linked to impact events or major volcanic activity. Not so much climate change (except as a result, not cause). Makes you wonder we we aren’t spending trillions studying vulcanism and developing advance warning systems for celestial impactors.
Could it be because the politicians haven’t figured out how to tax and regulate asteroids and magma? Just thinking.
Those who think we are a blight on Gaia are cheering right now.
