Krugman: Deniers are ‘immoral’ and commit ‘treason’ by opposing Waxman-Markey

New York Times columnist Paul Krugman seems ready to form a lynch mob for opponents of Waxman-Markey.

Krugman wrote today that,

And as I watched the deniers make their arguments, I couldn’t help thinking that I was watching a form of treason — treason against the planet.

Krugman added:

… To fully appreciate the irresponsibility and immorality of climate-change denial, you need to know about the grim turn taken by the latest climate research.

The fact is that the planet is changing faster than even pessimists expected: ice caps are shrinking, arid zones spreading, at a terrifying rate. And according to a number of recent studies, catastrophe — a rise in temperature so large as to be almost unthinkable — can no longer be considered a mere possibility. It is, instead, the most likely outcome if we continue along our present course…

Blah… blah…. blah… as Patrick Henry told the Virginia House of Burgesses on May 30, 1765:

“Caesar had his Brutus; Charles the First his Cromwell; and George the Third may profit by their example. If this be treason, make the most of it!”

The American Revolution was started by British policies more justified and less oppressive than Waxman-Markey.

  1. What’s going on at the Crone? Between this Krugman buncombe and Kristof’s June 28 flapdoodle about “endocrine distuptors” you’d think they didn’t get the memo about Earth Day until this past weekend.

  2. The Krugman assumption is that you have to be against dealing with emissions to be against the bloated Bill – a Bill that does nothing much regarding actually lowering emissions anyway.

In other words, pro-green bad, anti-green bad, all= bad.

I have written a long account of why the cap and trade in the Bill doesnt work

Market Reduction of CO2: Cap and Trade – or Not?
Basic Idea — Offsets — Tree Planting — Manufacture Shift — Fair Trade — Surreal Market — Real Market — Allowances: Auctions + Hand-Outs — Allowance Trading — Companies: Business Stability + Cost —
    In Conclusion

  3. The man is delusional – and I think he gets his copy from the DNC and Laurie David.

  4. If he mentioned anyone by name he should face charges of libel.

He is definitely taking leave of his mental capacities and possibly should be under some kind of supervision.
