The Guardian reports:
Employees are barred from checking government email, using government-issued cellphones during the furlough, or catching up on any of their work for the duration of the shutdown.
“It stinks,” said John O’Grady, a union representative at the EPA’s Chicago office. “No one is going to be out inspecting water discharges, or wet lands. Nobody is going to be out inspecting waste water treatment plants, drinking water treatment plants, or landfills – nothing. None of that is going to be done. The employees are absolutely devastated.”
I inspected a “wetland” yeaterday: stepped off a Caterpillar D-7 and went ankle-deep in mud, so I pushed it full of dirt.
All this complaining about so many gubment employees not working shows how dependent the CAGW crowd is on gubment (read taxpayer) money to operate. There is no POSSIBLE way that fact would EVER influence their decision making process. Only big oil corrupts science (I saw that on the internet, so it must be true).
More good news.
Oops. They may be potentially even more devastated if they are arrested for unauthorized use of their cell phones or email accounts, if that is what they used to communicate their non-regulating grief.
Like we will even notice!
