  1. I have mixed feelings about DA. On the one hand, he is a complete fraud. But unlike, say, Michael Mann who is a public fraud and has nothing behind him that wouldn’t be a fraud, DA sort of represents my field — biology — which is not a complete fraud. Sadly, it is mostly funded from fraudulent sources.

Biology is almost completely sold out to climate change and healthcare interests. Since it is near-impossible to get healthcare grants in plant science or zoology, people working in these disciplines keep writing junk proposals to please the climate change politicians. Maybe that’s why we don’t see a lot of proper biologists here or on WUWT — they are probably either ashamed or afraid to be rocking their own boat. They also keep quiet in their fora. I’ve seen lecture halls full of biologists and chemists listening to crap about ocean acidification without raising objections.

Many do good science in their labs, though. I can’t think of any other organised science that could boast of so many successes. Physics is a make-believe game. Climate science is just a prop for politicians. Biology still strives, even though many of its most visible public figures are frauds, like DA.

  2. Gene: The guy is a complete fraud as climate science goes. This is harsh language, but having made my living for half a century as a scientist seeking and defending the truth I am obliged to say so. Of, course, BBC is on level with DA in that respect so they fit well together!

  3. Two weeks ago from the BBC:

    On Thin Ice
David Attenborough investigates the effects of rising temperatures at the polar regions.

    A very pertinent investigation.
