The EPA’s Mercury Air Toxics Standard is misnamed.
In questioning EPA air chief Gina McCarthy at today’s hearing, Kentucky Congressman Ed Whitfield made the following two points:
- EPA has no idea how much the Mercury Air Toxics Standards will cost; and
- Despite the rule’s name, the rule actually provides no direct benefits from mercury reduction.
