  1. The whole business of Heat pumps & A/C is summed up by this equation…. G= dt/T where T & t are both degrees Kelvin.
    If you want heat or cool by 10 deg. K [= 18 deg.F], a heat pump will THEORETICALLY give you 27x the electric heating you pay for [i.e. 1KW out for only 37W of electricity input.]
    In PRACTICE a heat pump hot water system will give you 50Deg. C [90Deg.F] of water heat for less than 1/4 the cost of conventional resistance heating .
    IF, & only if, the total cost to manufacture install maintain & recycle the heat pump is lower over 6 years than that of the conventional resistance water heater, you save money. Go figure! [Nobody seems to have tried yet…LOL]
