  1. Drought is nothing new. I’m 63 years old and as long as I can remember, there were droughts and food shortages in Africa. The only thing that has changed is that the excess grain that has been harvested elsewhere is no longer available to them as a food source since it has been mandated to change these stores into ready cash for ethanol production as an additive to gasoline. When considering the all the effort to grow these crops, the carbon footprint of ethanol is more than the fossil fuel it is replacing. Some articles I have read gives the indication of 100,000 starvation due to grain conversion from food to fuel. Crop failure means the food has to come from somewhere else. Political corruption assures there is no place else for the food to come from.
