This claim is virtually all BS.
Short of heavy smoking contributing to lung cancer rates, linking the rest of these lifestyle factors with cancer is speculative at best. Cancer is mostly a disease of aging. There’s no science in this study — just statistical malpractice.
The Daily Mail reports:
All cancers exhibit damage to nuclear DNA in living cells. The known causes of cancer – sunlight, cigarettes, certain diseases, etc. – cause cancers because they all cause damage to the DNA.
The worst offender of all is a NORM (naturally occurring radioactive material) known as carbon-14.
Carbon is less than 20% of the human body, but about 40% of the DNA molecule. About 1 part-per-trillion of that carbon is radioactive carbon-14, and it ALL comes from food. On the average about 3 mutations are caused by the radioactivity of carbon-14 in DNA in a human body every 10 SECONDS.
Dr. Smith is simply fishing for a grant.
