I think that the more important aspect of farming in all these ‘difficult’ areas is the storage and control of water resources. We know from as far back as biblical accounts that these areas were always subject to variable rain fall. In other parts of the world which can suffer similar problems, education and self preservation have led to huge water storage and handling installations.
