This may be a new twist. First, the Fed government gives massive price support to US sugar producers. Now, tax that stuff at the government inflated value. I can see a Jack-and-the-Beanstalk upward spiral a coming.
Normalizing relations with Cuba will have two effects. Since slave labor is cheaper than union hands, Cuba can flood us with cheap tobacco and sugar so our kids can afford to smoke and eat junk food. Ah! progress!
How about the government stop spending money on “preventable” diseases and make people responsible for themselves? I personally know people who take zero responsibility for themselves, eat crap, smoke, drink excessively, but hey, their on Medicare so who cares?
