Kemper Ewectwicity by Tweety Bird

A typical coal plant is 1000 MW and used to cost 1 billion to build. This Mississippi disaster is now breaking a record for stupid.

6 billion to get less than 600 MW output so you can sequester life-sustaining carbon dioxide?
Many years ago, here in North Texas some fanatic greenies, led by a now ex Dallas Mayor and former journalist named Miller, told the Texas electricity companies–no more plain old coal plants cause coal plants were killing the children or the ground squirrels and prairie dogs. They created a regional t-shirt brigade. Miller was a real jerk, typical consumer journalist turned politician.
They wanted one of them fancy new sequester the CO2 plants.
We’re still waiting. They don’t deliver. It is a fool’s errand.

  2. There’s no market. CO2 is so easy and cheap to make that it’s just not economically viable to clean coal gas enough to be marketable in the product industry. Quantities sufficient for enhanced gas recovery need to be piped directly, so it’s very location-dependent.

  3. I must confess to voting for her. She was certainly an improvement over the corrupt Ron Kirk for Dallas, but she’s no scientist. Politician through and through

  4. Why would you want to capture/sequester life-sustaining carbon dioxide in the first place. Doing so wasts the energy produced by the plant.

  5. CO2 is a pretty important industrial gas,and in demand in a number of industries. Has this project made any calculations about the marketing of CO2 and the income so produced?

  6. John, did Miller get along well with T. Boone(doggle) Pickens, the famous West Texas wind rancher? (It’s been a while since I left Amarillo.)
