Intensive Dairy Farming condemned as Public Health Hazard

So I might ask how an enviro group dedicated to eliminating really big dairy farms get’s a nice timely scare report from 6 Johns Hopkins researchers.

Antibiotic resistance, all kinds of horrors are warned of. Letter was requested by a local enviro group.
Johns Hopkins does research on Wisconsin Dairy Farms and delivers the proper warning on cue. Amazing.

  1. I’m going to die! If I had known this 50 years ago I would never have worked on a dairy cleaning up manure in the holding stalls after the evening milking. I would never have consumed whole milk from the coolers!

  2. Don’t be ridiculous. They don’t want to reduce the population of the enlightened, just us riff raff.

  3. Read between the lines – this is all about human population reduction – so will the water melons raise their hands to be the first to depart? (please)

  4. Another group of enviro’s who think people should starve?
If they are really worried about that, there are lot’s of farmers around who will sell them organic and pure beef and milk.
Putting in anaerobic digestors might be a good idea for manure and ordor management (http://expeng.anr.msu.edu/uploads/files/133/FinalLiteratureReview.pdf). I know an MSU grad who has been helping them do that for a number of years.
And finally, they could paraphrase a sign I saw in rural SW Michigan: “This is a family farm. We raise hogs. We’ve been raising hogs for over 100 years. No matter what we do, hogs will smell. If you don’t like the odor, go back to Chicago.”
