House Hearing on EPA Overreach, Excellent

So my contact at the Space Science and Technology committee, Clint Woods, dedicated work horse for good science in the interest of the public, informs me they are going to talk about the Texas situation and EPA overreach on air pollution.
I think that’s a good one–if the EPA manages to squash Texas, they have the country on the run for sure.

Subject: Notice of Full Committee Hearing That’s good if they prepare well.
COMMITTEE ON SCIENCE, SPACE, AND TECHNOLOGY
NOTICE OF FULL COMMITTEE HEARING
TIME DATE PLACE
10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 2318 Rayburn House Office Building
Subject: “Examining the Science of EPA Overreach: A Case Study in Texas” Nice title, describes the problem
Witnesses:
· The Honorable Bryan Shaw, Chairman, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Engineer, high flyer very competent and knowledgable, leader of the Texas Fight to control EPA overreach.
· The Honorable David Porter, Commissioner, Railroad Commission of Texas CPA, unknown factor, good prep makes a good witness
· Mr. Kenneth Dierschke, President, Texas Farm Bureau Farmers have a dog in the fight–EPA is causing a lot of harm
· Dr. Elena Craft, Health Scientist, Environmental Defense Fund Specialist in air toxics. I am told a fanatic, often wrong, never in doubt. Claims she has seen the dead bodies, typical hyperbolic over the top, nutty enviro doing quite well at the rich and well funded EDF.
· Dr. Bernard Weinstein, Associate Director of the Maguire Energy Institute, Cox School of Business, Southern Methodist University
Economist, so should be able to address the same old same old arguments about jobs and economy, and the EPA doesn’t care, they are SAVING LIVES.

So here is my essay on preparation for a Congressional Hearing with special emphasis on EPA overreach. Nice coincidence that it is the subject of this session.

  1. Maybe they will get something accomplished. My participation in rule making committees have generally could be categorized by “Never in the course of human endeavor have so many labored so long to produce so little.”
