Economist: Failure to ax Aussie carbon tax would hurt investor confidence

AAP reports:

Any move by Labor or Greens senators to stop the coalition from repealing the carbon tax could hurt investor confidence.

State of Origin great Glenn Lazarus, running with mining tycoon Clive Palmer’s party, and One Nation founder Pauline Hanson may gain Senate spots in Queensland and NSW as counting gets underway.

But until the new Senate sits in July next year, CommSec chief economist Craig James says Labor and the Greens will still have the power to block coalition legislation.

  1. Papers report this morning that Mr Abbott is to recall parliament this week to consider the removal of the Carbon (Dioxide) Tax.
