Al Gore equates skepticism with racism and homophobia

Al Gore wrote in an e-mail:

Dear Steve,

Seven years ago, I was honored to have my presentation on climate change turned into a movie called An Inconvenient Truth. To this day, I am consistently gratified when people tell me that the film opened their eyes to the climate crisis, and that it has encouraged and inspired acts of leadership, big and small, around the world.

In honor of the seventh anniversary of the film’s release, I’m pleased to invite you to join me for an interactive Google Hangout with my good friend Jeff Skoll tomorrow, June 11, at 2pm EDT. We will talk about some key developments in the climate effort since the film originally came out. Most importantly, I want to invite you to participate in shaping the conversation by submitting your questions and watching the Hangout here.

Also, as part of the anniversary celebration, The Climate Reality Project has helped put together this list of ten actions you can take right now on climate change. I hope that you’ll visit the site, share it with your friends, and get inspired!

Sincerely,

Al Gore

No. 2 on the “list of ten actions” is:

STAND UP TO DENIAL

You don’t let ignorant comments about race or sexuality go unanswered. Don’t let comments like “climate change isn’t real” go unchallenged either.

No. 5 is also notable:

TAKE SMALL STEPS

You can do so many things to make a difference and inspire people around you. Things like keeping your car tires fully inflated, not letting your car idle, switching out old light bulbs for LED or CFL options, and walking or biking instead of driving. For more ideas, check out the EPA’s What You Can Do.

And while you’re taking “small steps,” China is increasing its carbon footprint like there’s no tomorrow:

New estimates for global energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2012 reveal a 1.4% increase, reaching a record high of 31.6 gigatonnes (Gt)… China experienced the largest growth in CO2 emissions (300 Mt)…

  1. The term is Lysenkoism.
Not to be confused with the scientific idea of inherited physcial traits that was disproven by genetics. I am referring instead to Stalin’s mandate of Lysenko’s anti-genetic theory which was enforcable by death.

  2. Algoreaphobia: Panic disorder with algoreaphobia is an anxiety disorder in which a person has attacks of intense fear and anxiety of catastrophic anthropogenic global warming (CAGW). Paradoxically, there is also a fear of being in places where it is hard to escape the truth that CAGW is a hoax.

  3. Not really. I’d rather hang out with people of different ethnic backgrounds or gay / lesbian people than a “we are going to destroy the Earth” warmist.

  4. Right… this is a typical Communist tactic.

Resistance to policy, is a mental defect. End…. of…. “argument”….
