Zimbabwe Real Climate Problem: No money for climate bureaucracy

“Inadequate funding and limited resources are frustrating Zimbabwe’s efforts to develop plans to deal with the impact of climate change, says a government progress report.”

IRINNews reports:

The government report, Strengthening the National Capacity for Climate Change, says Zimbabwe lacks the funds needed to hold a workshop to identify a National Implementing Entity, an accredited body able to receive direct financial transfers from the Adaptation Fund in Zimbabwe. The Adaptation Fund, set up under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is the most important source of funds to help developing countries adapt to climate change.

The government also lacks sufficient funds to devise a national strategy, review the work of its technical team on climate change or conduct advocacy work to raise awareness of climate change, the report says.

  1. White people in Rhodesia were wealthier than black people, it’s true. All of Rhodesia’s society had a higher standard of living than any other nation in the region except South Africa. Entrepreneurial activity and relatively free economies made them wealthy. Socialist trends have reduced the standard of living in South Africa and Marxism has ruined Zimbabwe.

  2. Proof again that MONEY is the only cure for climate change. Money given to the government, of course. Forget CO2–gather up money and everything will be fine.

  3. Rhodesia was a wealthy country.
Nearly all poverty in the world now is related to bad governance, not to resource scarcity or lack of human potential. Nearly all — of course there are exceptions.

  4. “Inadequate funding and limited resources are frustrating Zimbabwe’s efforts”, probably because of all the government officials sneaking money out of the country through people they solicit in e-mail. 231 million per cent peak hyperinflation could have had something to do with it. But then again, if the enviros got everything they wanted for ‘protecting the planet’ then EVERYBODY (except the enviros, of course) would be broke, EVERYWHERE in the world.

  5. Gosh. Who knew it was so hard to create “an accredited body able to receive direct financial transfers”? They could probably find someone in Zurich pretty easily.
