I certainly think that global cooling caused the desertification of the Sahara.
It is believed that for most of the Holocene, Earth’s climate has been warmer than is the case today. The Sahara became a desert quickly about 5000 years ago. Would it not be ironic if global cooling caused the desertification of the Sahara, through a change in wind patterns, induced by cooling. Think about it: Global warming might be the friend of the Sahara.
