Obama’s think tank presses Interior Secretary for coal lease moratorium on federal lands

“Absent a moratorium and reform, Interior is poised to approve 3.5 billion tons of new coal mining, which would be an unprecedented expansion of federal coal extraction.   1. Mentions that coal use dropped 12% last year, and implies it’s due to renewables growth. Balderdash, unless you think natural gas is renewable. A still punkish economy constrained coal use as well.

  2. That and collecting royalties from the sale of coal would actually be financially prudent. Gotta stop that.
