All things considered, Mann is the expert at long term temperature reconstruction. If you do not consider his work invalid, it would be silly to not ask him to review it. The problem is that both Mann and Marcott should have been laughed out of the room when they proposed their famous papers.
If that is so, that certainly does not bode well for Marcott.
It seems … “incestuous” comes to mind … to have the creator of the first hockey stick as a reviewer of a paper that seems to confirm it, all the more when the original work has come under serious question.
But maybe that’s why I’m a sceptic.
