The Kentucky Environmental Foundation claims in its new report “KEF_Energy_Report_5 1Health Impact Assessment of Coal and Clean Energy Options in Kentucky” that:
Gases and particulates released by burning coal can distribute up to hundreds of miles from the source. Emissions can affect the heart, lungs and nervous system, as well as damage prenatal development. According to research by ABT associates for the Clean Air Task Force, Kentucky experiences approximately 412 deaths, 286 hospitalizations and 539 heart attacks annually due to power plant pollution…”
