“The American Lung Association has targeted House Energy and Commerce Chairman Fred Upton for his efforts to stop U.S. EPA from regulating greenhouse gas emissions by placing billboards within sight of his district offices linking climate change with increased childhood asthma,” reports E&E News PM.
But as we reported last week in “EPA owns the American Lung Association,” the EPA has paid the American Lung Association over $20 million in the last ten years, and has paid the ALA many more millions in a symbiotic relationship going back to at least 1990.
The EPA-ALA relationship works something like this: EPA pays the ALA and, in return, the ALA agitates for more stringent EPA air quality regulation, including by lawsuit. Now the ALA is attacking a politician who is aiming to rein in the out-of-control agency.
In addition to defunding National Public Radio, the House GOP should look at the EPA’s funding of American Lung Association. This abuse of taxpayer money is also a good subject for watchdog Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA).
ha ha ha do you think the ALA is a unique instance of these tactics by the Stalinist racketeering EPA?
Let’s dig down and find out how much taxpayer money has been funneled to terrorist organizations like the Sierra “club”
Will the corruption ever end? ALA should be ashamed of itself. We new the EPA was dirty and should be flushed. Apparently the ALA has just become another left-wing hack organization. Sad.
Difficult nut to crack. The Repubs in my county brag about funding an “environmental education center” You can guess what they teach the little skulls full of mush that are bussed in from schools all over the state.
If this is true I don’t see how this could be legal. Great find, hopefully this will be investigated.
Isn’t it amazing how the EPA feels it can do anything it wants to attain its goals. Taking taxpayer money and funding other groups to be advocacy for their goals is just plain wrong.
The EPA is a rogue agency that lives at the will of Congress. It is time to behead it and start over. They have done good things in the past, but the idea that they have to constantly make existing regulations even more strict is getting to the point of idiocy. Some of their proposed regulations are calling for certain chemicals to be at normal background levels which means we cannot use them at all. This would be social engineering and control of the economy by regulation. This is not their role and way out of their powers.
Regulating CO2 is the biggest scam. They have no basis as the CO2 scare is based on the IPCC junk science. Isn’t it convenient that they can pretend that the IPCC is perfect and they do not have to do any due diligence before enacting regulations which they have no right to impose, having never been passed by Congress?
But, then again, they banned DDT as a political decision, with no scientific basis. Ozone and CFC’s = junk science again. Flame retardent chemicals = no basis. Mattress bedbug pesticide = no basis.
The EPA’s motto: “Facts? We don’t need no stinkin’ facts. We do what we want anyhow!”
They have never heard of loyalty to their country or fiscal responsibility ,or ethics, for that matter.
Does your group regularly send these important reports to members of Congress to initiate action to stop this politial nonsense? Some of these acts should be investigated by various ethics committees and prosecutions should be initiated if warranted.
Excuse me, but are those budget hearings not still under way? Can’t Chairman Upton drag in the head of the ALA and ask for documentation ON THE RECORD that CO2 causes childhood asthma?
I’d pay to see that testimony–and the pursuant fraud charges.
The ALA needs to be exposed for this hyprocisy. What a shame that such potential for good has been transformed into a patsy.
