2012 Greenland melt shows climate models not ready for prime time

Even Michael Mann agrees.

Andrew Freedman writes at ClimateCentral:

The new study, along with other recent work, points to the unsettling possibility that the Arctic climate system is evolving in ways that have not been anticipated by sophisticated climate models.

The Michael Mann chimes in — admitting models don’t work:

“Under-prediction” = wrong, too, Mikey.

  1. No doubt. whenever the models are wrong temperature data has been changed. The problem is that they have changed the temp data about as much as they can – so we no longer see the warming trend. If I were to guess, I would say we are having similar weather to the 1970’s but with all the numbers tweeked, it is hard to compare.

  2. Obviously, the data need to be re-examined to determine the reason for the lack of agreement with sophisticated climate models.
