New GOP mantra: Keystone vs. Solyndra

“House Republicans have a new campaign slogan: “The Keystone economy vs. the Solyndra economy.”

Politico reports:

… “In many ways it’s a great example of the difference in approach between the House Republicans and the president,” Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) said Friday…

“I’m going to talk about Keystone every single day, every opportunity I get,” Rep. Tim Griffin of Arkansas (R-Ark.) said…

The members denied that the Keystone vs. Solyndra contrast extends to fossil fuels vs. renewable energy.

“Republicans want to be saying yes to allowing the private sector in America, free markets, to decide what should move forward and say yes to an all-of-the-above approach,” McMorris Rodgers said.

“I think it would be wonderful if the private sector were rushing in to invest in solar energy, in the Solyndras of the world. But they’re not,” Rep. Todd Young (R-Ind.) added. “That’s where I think the differences lie. It has nothing to do with carbon-based energy versus other types of energy.”
