Chris Christie: New Jersey's Al Gore

Hurray, Chris Christie pulled New Jersey out of the Northeast’s cap-and-trade program… but BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!, he’s a believer in consensus science and, apparently, catastrophic manmade global warming.

While announcing that New Jersey was quitting the Regional GreenHouse Gas Initiative, Christie said,

I’m certainly not a scientist, which is the first problem. So I can’t claim to fully understand all of this, certainly not after just a few months of study. But when you have over 90 percent of the world’s scientists who have studied this stating that climate change is occurring and that humans play a contributing role, it’s time to defer to the experts.

Yes, what logic… brilliant….I don’t know anything… so rather than keeping my big fat mouth shut until I learn something, I’ll side with the likes of Al Gore, Osama bin Laden, Charles Manson, the Discovery Channel gunman, Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Henry Waxman, Bobby Rush and every other whacked out, intellectually and morally bankrupt believer in global warming.

Chris Christie for President? No thanks. I’ll write in Kris Kringle first.

  1. Soooo… He did a few months of study and he is still parroting the ” 90 percent of scientists” BS? Seriously, how do these guys get elected if they can’t bring themselves up to speed in a couple of months? Jeez Louise!

  2. Alan:
“These guys were hired as warmers and are not going to back off the cool aid for a minute ‘

How come Robock, the one from Rutgers has a nuclear winter article in the May 19 issue of Nature ?

  3. Westie: I don’t vote for Rino’s, because they are lefty, socialist, statist Democrats masquerading as Republicans. Not because they aren’t perfect. No one is perfect. My list is partially tongue in cheek.

Don’t know where you got the idea that I might think Obama is ‘perfect’. He is a perfect embarrassment for the people of the United States.

  4. “Endorsing global warming just makes their lives easier.”–Prof. Richard Lindzen, MIT

How does answering an anonymous survey make their lives easier?

  5. scizzorbill doesn’t vote for Rhinos because none are perfect….but, but Obama is???
Agree that Christie is not Presidential material, he’s the typical North Easter petite tyrant with a smidgeon of fiscal sanity and a big PR campaign. Never trust anyone that is elected in NJ, CT, Mass, etc…

  6. The one’s I liked for a potential run for president are dwindling. Here’s the list.

Christie: Fiscal conservative only. Otherwise RINO with feints to the center.

Rubio: Looked real good. Now pushing statist AGW goals.

Bachmann: Wants to obtain a federal pardon for a campaign donor.

    Palin: Quitter.

    Pawlenty: See Bachmann.

Cain: Worked for the Federal Reserve Bank. I will overlook it if he was the janitor.

    Gingrich: I don’t vote for RINO’s.

    Romney: See Gingrich.

    Huntsman: See Gingrich.

West: Looks good now, but might develop Rubio syndrome.

Kringle: Gets my vote if Kris picks Mary Poppins for his running mate.

  7. Damn! I have been vaguely following Chris Christie for a couple of years, and lot of what he says makes sense, especially around public service union demands.

He has now totally blown it – just goes to show that even ostensibly intelligent individuals are prone to believing the hype without thinking.

  8. Since I am a PA resident and Christie says he is not running for Pres I am not willing to throw him under the bus just yet. Before we crucify him, I suggest that those that live in NJ write the Governor and explain how the scientific method works. Send him appropriate literature and invite him to our venues, e.g., Heartland’s Washington program next month.
I am trying to do the same with Corbett here in PA.

  9. Christie wants it both ways – reduce taxes, support non-green jobs, and blame A-CO2 made in other states and States. So who votes for him? The ones who want him to fight the good, green fight? The ones who want to hear no more of CAGW and tax-CO2?

Christie will be a slam-dunk for the manic-depressive vote. The world is going to hell and this is the best of times: like them he can hold contradictory positions in his head multiple times per day.

  10. Harold, could you please explain to everyone here how the 97% consensus came to be? … could you please? … didn’t think so … your consensus and your “science” is utter BS

  11. One of the world’s leading cllimate scientists summed up the consensus problem: “First, being skeptical about global warming does not, by itself, make one a good scientist; nor does endorsing global warming make one, per se, a poor scientist. Most of
the atmospheric scientists who I respect do endorse global warming. The important point, however, is that the science that they do that I respect is not about global warming. Endorsing global warming just makes their lives easier.”–Prof. Richard Lindzen, MIT

  12. Harold — You’re right.

“Science” is advanced by massaging the data, refusing to say HOW you massaged it, and “losing” the data just when it looks as if someone will FOIA you for it.

  13. Yeah I also thought the 90% figure was a bit off. I actually work in the field of climate change and the figure is higher than 90%. We don’t include celebrities, politicians, “news” anchors, etc. when calculating that figure by the way. Come to a scientific meeting (ASLO, AGU, etc.) and hear the presentations of the scientists. THAT is where the consensus is formed, not on TV or the internet. P.S. – I am only here at the request of a friend who reads this blog. And remember a blog is just that, this is not how science is advanced (thankfully).

  14. there are a couple of true believer scientists at Rutgers who have Christie’s ear thanks to the “we represent no one” Sierra Club gang. These guys were hired as warmers and are not going to back off the cool aid for a minute as their whole research program grants will crumble. At least we’re not going to get taxed on our power bills to support their delusions. Baby steps.

  15. hey
is that the same 90% huntsman used?
where are these guys getting it?
Is it like the 97% which is 75/79?
