BTW I notice that Lewin, like most academics, considers only the estimated error in READING the measuring apparatus… NOT the actual accuracy of the apparatus itself which needs to be verified by frequent comparison to a recognized standard……
A steel ruler can be confidently assumed to be accurate within +/- 1 of its smallest divisions but anything more complicated [e.g. an analog meter] can show a reading actually erroneous by many divisions of its scale. LOL
