New-Truck Emissions Scandal: Cummins recalls 500,000 trucks for faulty NOx emissions control

So now we know why Cummins-engine-using Volvo Trucks and the EPA Deep Staters (DEEPA?) in its Michigan emissions lab didn’t want to test Cummins engines against glider engines.

Here’s the EPA media release:

Here is an interesting e-mail obtained from EPA via FOIA. It shows Volvo lobbyist Steve Berry conspiring with EPA Deep Stater Angela Cullen on the bogus glider testing story JunkScience.com broke in June. Note Berry advising Cullen against testing Cummins engines (which are used in Volvo Trucks).

Cummins disclosed its emissions problems in this SEC filing from October 2017.

BOTTOM LINE: Volvo Trucks, Cummins Inc. and the rest of the new truck industry conspired with EPA Deep Staters to destroy the glider truck industry. In addition to killing off a competitor (albeit a small one as gliders are only about 1 percent of the market for trucks), the new truck industry is desperate to contain the fraud it and EPA have perpetrated on the public — ever tighter (but ever more pointless) emissions standards driving ever more expensive truck engines and higher profits.
