So called environmental “crimes” could be virtually eliminated by a system of law with strict enforcement of private property rights and where little or nothing is “owned” by the government.
Crime will continue to grow as long as governments can continue to find activities to criminalize, especially those activities whose participants have enough money to pay exorbitant fines. For many years the weekly EPA newsletter boasted regularly of the 6 and 7 figure fines they assessed and collected, often from small to mid-sized businesses.
