  1. Snow is notoriously difficult to measure. In 2010, BWI recorded nearly 100″ of snow. It was later downgraded to the high 70’s because measurements were taken hourly (the FAA standard) rather than every 4 hours (the NWS standard). Were they measuring snow depth the same way 100 years ago? If they want to compare, they need to look at the water equivalent in precipitation which is easier to measure accurately. When they did that in Boston last year, the water equivalent precipitationwas not that unusual. Of coarse then you have to explain how there’s more snow and less rain.
