It is not possible to “drive” the costs of fossil fuels high enough that so-called “renewables” will become price competitive. Any cost increases to fossil fuel derived energy will flow systemically into prices and then flow through the system to become added cost for renewables and for governments’ subsidizing “renewables.” There ain’t no free lunches because there ain’t no perpetual motion machines or devices or systems.
Thermodynamics, friction and inertia are co public enemy number ones for all living creatures, mankind included. And money does not provide a driving force — As a medium of exchange, money functions more on the order of a lubricant that helps to smooth the operation of machines, devices and systems that are driven by various energies from various sources.
