Right! The NYT used the term in 1969. It only took 20 years for NPR to recognize that the term/concept was in use, and call it ‘news’. I guess it was news TO THEM.
Did this claim perchance come in the midst of their begging for donations?
I think NPR means the first time it was used on their programs or stations.
The confusing part is that the Earth was at the end of a 30 year cooling period when Goldberg made these comments. If I was inclined to conspiracy theories, this would be a data point.
