Of course the region isn’t a desert or anything.
But there wasn’t a drought in the main crop growing areas of Syria. The last 5 years were only 5-7% down on the long term average. Quadrupling of population in the last fifty years and a tripling of diesel prices (used by irrigation pumps) under Assad’s economic liberalisation more of an impact NOT Climate Change.
