Here’s a disturbing point raised by a grid operator:
From Climatewire:
So the federal plan that EPA will impose on states not complying with EPA’s Clean Power Plan may not work… may lead to blackouts. Gangster government at work.

This seems to me to be an eminently workable and sensible plan, with just one cost saving modification.
Instead of having to install a lot of remote operated circuit breakers, save the expense and just dispatch crews of linemen to perform a “permanent disconnect” to the federal facilities.
Reduces load on a permanent basis therefore allowing a lot of those nasty coal-fired power plants that the federal regulators are trying to shut down to be put in mothball status.
A win – win for the peepul!
Excellent idea, tadchem! That’s a state plan, right there. Have to install a lot of remote-operated circuit breakers, but if it saves just one trillionth of a degree of global warming…
it’s worth it.
Simple plan: cut off service to non-residential, non-industrial, non-commercial users exempt from state taxes. Do the math: that would be ‘Federal offices’. Let our federal government lead by example – even if it is involuntary.
