Tadchem is spot on as to the loss of atmosphere, according to the latest hypothesis by planetary scientists, which is an apparent natural planetary process.
Note that this occurred without an intervention by putative “Martians”. The lack of a robust magnetic field has been demonstrated by robotic probes and would be expected due to the lack of active plate tectonics.
ROG.L: There is little I could add to the explanation on this page: http://www.astronomynotes.com/solarsys/s7.htm
Scroll down to the section on “Magnetic Dynamo Theory”.
The planetary dynamo requires both rotation and an electrically conductive liquid. The core of Mars appears to be solid.
Someone is confusing science fiction with science on this.
Tadchem: Are you willing and able to explain why Mars has no magnetic field?
Thanks in anticipation,
Rog.
“There is no magnetic field on Mars, so when the solar wind reaches the Red Planet, the atmosphere gets stripped away.”
So not only is solar activity the prime cause, but the circumstance of the planetary magnetic field is completely different between Earth and Mars.
Typical ‘Chicken Little’ reportage…
