And forgotten in all this is how insurance companies used the doomsday predictions a decade or more ago to justify increasing policy rates for homeowners. For years, policyholders have been quietly paying increased premiums based on a supposed higher risk.
I think it’s 10 years without a landfalling major hurricane for the entire USA, 10 years in Florida without a landfalling hurricane of any magnitude. Some came close, but I apparently they all missed.
