Those of us living on the Animas River have always expected that the EPA did this on purpose to make the case for declaring this a Superfund site, and guaranteeing themselves work for the next 50 years. Of course the contractor got a multi million dollar contract, it’s a reward for doing EXACTLY what the EPA wanted done.
Maybe there’s more stuff the EPA would like to get rid of by dumping it a river.
