One thought on “Bhutan to pave roads with recycled plastic”
Blending carefully selected types of recycled plastic into asphalt should make pavement more flexible and water-resistant, reducing the incidence of potholes and the rate of tire wear. Recycled tires should also help. Water repellency would be an improvement over RAC (rubberized asphalt concrete), which is vulnerable to freeze-thaw damage due to absorbed water undergoing winter temperature cycling.
The plastic must have a high plasticizer content – typical of PVC.
