The people at Lancet have gone off their meds again.
I keep seeing these nonsense articles–apparently Lancet is unaware of the fact that there is no cancer epidemic and the ambient levels of “carcinogens” (that word is misused by Lancet a lot) are not causing any increase in cancer.
When the Lancet come back on the reservation, maybe someone will put them on a leash.

It’s called a rhetorical hook–back on the reservation means abandoning raids and violent conduct that is a danger to the public.
I am not inclined to get into the Indians v the Cowboys and the violations of treaties. Not enough space. Wasn’t trying to dredge up the Indian grievance discussion.
Deb, are you trying to say that only Indians can live, have lived or should live on reservations? Further, are you implying that if the Indians are ‘off the reservation’ that’s a bad thing?
I didn’t get any of that from what John wrote, but I feel like that’s what you wish he had said. Take your racism elsewhere, or (your choice, I’m sure) please learn to read what’s written without adding your own prejudices to it.
Are you speaking of an Indian Reservation?
“serious cancer crisis”
Literary flourish? “Serious” AND “crisis?” A cancer crisis isn’t scary enough, so we’ll call it a serious cancer crisis.
Hey, Bigs, are you implying that the risk of cancer outweighs all human endeavor? Should China shut down their economy over the RISK of cancer?
There is no such thing as cancer, only tumours that kill you.
no, because cancer is a disease or phenomenon that is derivative, mostly of aging, so, for lack of a better alternative to aging, I want to age even if it increases my chances of cancer.
see cancer is a part of the risk of being old. in the nature of the cell lines, mitosis problem. the more cell lines you make, due to your age, the bigger your chance of a bad multiploidic cell line.
also the greater the chance your internal defenses won’t pick off the bad cell line.
however, the alternative is to die young.
except for some of the cancers.

It would be nice, John, if there was just a little bit less cancer, wouldn’t it?
real archaic humor–they are off the reservation making these silly claims, so they need to be coming back to the reservation. Then we will try to keep them honest and sensible, instead of in a panic about a cancer epidemic and other chemophobic nuttiness.
Reservation? What do you mean exactly “when they come back to the reservation.”?
