Wadduino except I cannot think that the East Coast is for real.
So the culture of the Midwest is true Americana.
I can agree with some of that.
See what you think. If you don’t see beyond the Alleghany Mountains or, worse, beyond the Hudson, you might find this upsetting.
Well ain’t that something. Let me find some kleenex.

You dont become present by being humble.
It is not about political influence, but the ideals that Ameica was founded on that is embodied by the Midwest. Albeit, even this is changing. The people of the Midwest lived rugged individualism while undestanding the need to work together.
The article’s comment about ridicule is spot on. Even now the Left loves to refer to this part of country as ‘fly over country’. But this is were ‘Main Street’ lies.
I can only speak for the east coast and as far west as Missouri (my time in Nevada and California was too short to judge). If Missouri is indicative of the Midwest, it’s current culture is largely a weird blend of east and west coast but about a year behind. I suppose the internet and cable have probably sped up the process by now.
Oh, thanks. But I still can’t agree. I’ve been in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Illinois… maybe Minnesota or Wisconsin could have some influence, but otherwise there’s just nothing galvanizing politically. Looking at a map of the US by population, there’s just no base large enough.
i am a stupido, didn’t give you the essay to read. sorry, my friend.

Well, technically, in 1804 the Mississippi was considered the Western Territory, so it depends how you want to define “Classic”. Personally I feel that California is the natural end point of “Go West” (sorry Hawaii) and that’s the real Americana: relentless expansion, speculation, individualism, and convenient ignorance of local claims and laws.
