Dolphins at Risk

A small sample of Dolphins shows a high rate of disease. No particular disease, just–they’re sick.
Sorry boys, as a physician, I need to know more.

No control groups, diseased Dolphins are described with many different problems. Not what is characteristic of toxin caused problems.
If toxicity is alleged, a little more info is needed and one must assess exposure, and effects, along with plausibility.
BP better get out the checkbook. We could have the BP Deepwater Horizon Dophin Syndrome.
Understand this, when you hear the word epidemic, be suspicious, or syndrome, be suspicious. There are rules of toxicology and disease identification that go beyond the methods described. We need more info on Barataria bay.
The descriptions are of multiple organ system problems, from lung to liver to even partruition.
And its an observational study with a small sample.
But BP deep pockets are the target. And of course the media is already hyperventilating. Dophins are very attractive animals–they can talk and do math and have created civilizations in the sea and are friendly and TV Stars. BP is in trouble.

  1. I saw some ants staggering around on my sidewalk yesterday.
I fear that ants everywhere are getting sick because of the huge number of chemicals the state of California KNOWS CAUSE CANCER.
(Or maybe it was that can of Raid.)
