The only lesson they’ll learn is to not say what they have in mind on the hustings, then ram it home once elected. Much like Obama the second time around.

As “they” say, the most important thing we learn from history is that we never learn from history. This especially applies to politicians who have generally confused themselves with a god capable of changing the nature of reality simply by writing and passing a law. Interestingly, reality pays no attention to the politicians. I suggest that this means we shouldn’t either and consider all politicians and all their words, written or otherwise, as irrelevant to us as they are to reality.
