Climate Spectator reports:
An early move to an emissions trading scheme (ETS) in 2014 will see Australia’s carbon price fall to $9/tonne from the $25.40/t fixed price, according to leading analysts.
Thomson Reuters Point Carbon said the 65 per cent fall in price of Australian Carbon Units is below that which has been discussed by Australian politicians this week, with comments focussing on the current $6 price of EU allowances.
The prediction comes as the European Union said it was looking to accelerate the link between its emissions trading scheme and Australia’s in the wake of Prime Minister Kevin Rudd’s early move to an ETS.
Any “carbon price” at all…heck, you know the rest.
