House budget bill would bar EPA from spending money on power plant rules

Bloomberg reports:

The appropriations bill would restrict EPA from spending funds to develop, issue, implement, or enforce any regulation establishing new source performance standards for any new or existing electric-generating plants.

Franz Matzner, associate director of government affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council, told BNA July 22 the House budget “may very well be the worst bill ever.”

  1. It’s no wonder the NRDC are dismayed. They see the Republican controlled House as a speed bump in their relationship with EPA. If the members of the controlling party have any courage and will, they’ll continue to restrict the EPA’s strangling of the economy by slowing much of the restricting rules imposed to no good end.
