Reuters reports:
Foes of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry oil from Canada to Texas, said on Thursday that an expected White House package of proposals to combat climate change was not an adequate trade-off for approval of the controversial project.
The enviro-bullies are right in a couple of ways.
1. Since neither approval or disapproval of the Keystone XL pipeline will affect climate, and since Obama’s other proposals won’t either, they’re not really trade-offs.
2 Since the Keystone opponents are either profiteers like Buffet or absolutists like, well, name your own favorite, any compromise is heresy and trade-offs aren’t acceptable at all.
