Greenpeace calls NSA spying a ‘double evil’ because the NSA data center is powered by coal

“And what kind of power is fueling the data center that Big Brother is building to store our illegally collected Facebook posts and phone calls? Coal, of course!”

The data center, which is estimated to draw 65 megawatts of electricity, as much as some towns, is being constructed in Utah, where 84 % of the electricity comes from coal, according to Energy Information Administration data.

  1. I’m conjuring visions of data points connecting them to eco-terrorists. (I might could get behind this whole spying thing if the NSA would just target the sources of terrorism.)

  2. Needing the vast amounts of power to keep the NSA center in operation, the cheapest and logical choice is coal. There’s a good lesson here if they were paying attention to facts.
