Global Warming Asylum: Immigration bill gets climate change amendment

Sen. Brian Schatz’s bill would create a sort of political asylum for global warming refugees.

Climate Progress reports:

Senator Brian Schatz’s (D-HI) filed an amendment for the immigration bill Wednesday that would allow stateless people in the U.S. to seek conditional lawful status if their nations have been made uninhabitable by climate change.

  1. We certainly could not deport them back to their uninhabited and uninhabitable homeland (wherever THAT may be). It would be more humane to provide the ‘climate refugees’ transportation to locales made *more* habitable by climate change. I’m thinking Spitzbergen and Ellesmere Island.

  2. Obviously affects millions….um maybe thousands…eh, a couple dozen?….can anyone show me a climate refugee?
