Kerry blames deadly Indian floods on global warming

The Bangkok Post reports:

Kerry, who will meet the Indian leadership on Monday, devoted most of his speech to climate change in what his aides said was a signal that the scourge will be a top priority for him as secretary of state, much as it was when he was a senator.

“Here in India, the home of so much of the history of science, we must recognise that today the science of climate change is screaming at us for action,” Kerry said.

After expressing his condolences for the victims of devastating floods in northern India, Kerry said that “it appears as if, in many ways, in many places, Mother Nature is telling us to heed the warnings”.

“Yours is already one of the most severely affected nations — and unfortunately, the worst consequences of the climate crisis will confront people who are least capable of coping with them,” Kerry added.

  1. Leading from behind in the Arab spring. Lybia and Syria adding to the foreign policy shambles. An economy that isn’t recovering fast enough. Obamacare is turning into a nightmare. The IRS fiasco. The NSA scandal.
The administration is turning to global warming as a distraction from a long list of problems. And now comes Kerry to demonstrate what a genius his is. I wonder just how amazed the Indians are that JFK has discovered monsoons.

  2. Well, we here in south east Queensland we go one better: we have a super-moon, yes, you heard right, a super-moon that causes all the sand of the Gold Coast to “disappear”. Yep, it gobbles up all the sand. Needless to say, all the millionaires are in a panic.
    Damn you, super-moon!

  3. Kerry is a prime example of the phrase “50 years of being wrong about everything is 50 years of experience.” I constantly wonder who are the people who still believe him and his ilk.

  4. I am reminded of Augustine of Hippo’s warning to Christians.

“Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of this world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and the seasons, about the kinds of animals, shrubs, stones, and so forth, and this knowledge he holds to as being certain from reason and experience. Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; . . . .”

Kerry is talking nonsense to people who know better.

  5. Indeed.

“Seventy five percent of the annual rainfall is received during June to September monsoon making almost all the rivers carry heavy discharge during this period. The flood hazard is compounded by the problems of sediment deposition, drainage congestion and synchronization of river floods with sea tides in the coastal plains. The monsoon failure or excess in some part of India creates hazard for the agricultural communities.”

  6. Indian leadership will know that India has been experiencing monsoon flooding for millenia. Some were big killers, like the Rajputana Flood in 1943. They will look at Kerry when he speaks the gospel and think, “Americans are idiots.”

  7. It’s my understanding that the Indian Moonsoons occur during June to September and have occurred for thousands of years.

  8. President Nixon was kicked out for smaller misdemeanors than the ones Kerry and Obama are making themselves guilty of by denying the results of objective climate science and advocating the lies of the James Hansen, Phil Jones and John Holdren gang!
