Wind and Solar were only profitable as long as the governments had cash stimulus money by the bucketful to pour into the communal trough. With no more buckets forthcoming, its a loser.
BP has been totally in the save-Gaia tank for years – remember the BP ads with the pale, hippie-looking/dressed woman sitting cross-legged on the ground and saying that clean energy was a “right”? – while taking their eye off the ball of its core business (and stockholders’ interests). The results include the Gulf spill, refinery explosions/fires, and rising fuel prices. Mixing (lefty) politics and business – especially with fundamental industries like energy – is a recipe for disaster.
