Actually yes. When Obama came into office one of his mandates for all military contracts was to include provisions for how to make the project “green” people in my area were working on missiles at the time, and found it rather funny. But by green you can change the paint to fume free, or use Bettel Nut oil as the primary fuel …
So the answer is yes they are working on green bullets.
Also I thing some of the crazier ideas from the administration have been reported here – from growing renewable fuel on the battlefied, to fueling Navy vessels with biofuel that costs 10x as much as the normal fuel they would use.
