Senator McCarthy’s methods become problematic and his personality too. His basic concerns were well-supported at the time and have been repeatedly confirmed over the years since.
The term “McCarthyism” refers to false accusations made in hysterical fashion, something McCarthy did very little of. Senator Inhofe has done nothing of the sort. He has made strong charges, all of them true, and he’s made them with confidence and force. That’s what he’s supposed to do. But of course he’s supporting real science against “progressive” positions and that makes him evil, like high fructose corn syrup.
